The broad objective of Talent Development at GTL is to develop and enhance the organization's self-renewing ability. The Talent management system, aims at identifying people with potential; developing their talent through a structured programme of professional and personal growth; and thereby attaining the objective of retaining the high-potential performers/leaders. The talent management system follows a structured programme oriented to establishing a linkage between the various aspects of the developmental role of the Human Resource function.
 
The employee development process is in line with business strategy and caters to the Succession Planning objective of the organization. A basket of development interventions based on their career aspirations, scalability is defined for each individual who forms a part of the Club Orion.
 
:: Club Orion
The Club Orion selection process follows a highly comprehensive system of assessment. Nominations by Superiors, followed by a rigorous evaluation process, which includes Competency assessment, Thomas Profiling (which gives an individual's personality profile) and CAR form completion (which is a detailed discussion of the candidate's career achievements and career aspirations at GTL) followed by a panel interview.
 
Moving ahead, after their induction into the Club, the members undergo Career discussions and Performance Enhancement Action Plans are rolled out for the Club members. These initiatives are aimed at creating back-ups for the key roles and positions of the organization; thereby ensuring a comprehensive Succession planning.
 
The development initiatives offered to these club members include a range of initiatives spanning into job rotation, stretch goals, management development, and management exposure. The Management Development programmes have been designed through management institutes (IIM, S.P. Jain) as per the needs identified and have been customized keeping the organizational context in mind.
